Introduction

This page is dedicated to explaining how to fix the error that occurs when a payrun is exclusively locked by another instance or user.

Payroll Pay Run Error – Cannot start this task because exclusive lock has been placed by another instance or user

 

This will occurs when another user has left the pay run open on their computer and has locked up the database.

 

To fix:

Step 1:  Go to System drop down menu and click Unlock Pay Run


Step 2:

Will show the computer name and person that locked the Pay Run.  Click unlock
